AI REDGIO 5.0: Requirements Engineering Methodology
The AI REDGIO 5.0 project encompasses three main system types:
• AI-based Didactic Factories and SMEs experiment solutions;
• AI (E)DIH services;
• AI platforms for AI (E)DIHs and SMEs.
For this purpose, a common methodology for technical and business requirements has been defined to capture the needs of the four pillars that constitute the basis of AI REDGIO 5.0: project pilot experiments, (E)DIHs, AI platforms and Data Spaces as well as to initiate the assessment of the project’s business impact on the industrial pilots.
The approach of the Requirements Engineering Method for AI REDGIO 5.0 encompasses a complete requirements life-cycle management method, for collecting and harmonizing scenarios, needs and requirements from the pillars of the project, with the support of specific data structures through three practical handbooks: Trial Handbook, the (E)DIH Handbook and the Techno Handbook. These tools will take into account the specific characteristics of each type of ‘system’ leading to the adoption of tailored methodologies such as Customer Journeys for (E)DIHs and User Journeys/ Grand Scenarios for technological artefacts.
The list and design of the requirements is developed by the users/creators of each system such as technology providers or (E)DIH service designers. The final result is the build up of a system (e.g., a new (E)DIH service; an enhanced AI platform/tool) from key components such as IT artefacts or organizational processes that have specific functionalities. The goal for these components is to be linked and integrated in a “system architecture” that can be deployed, tested, verified and validated by the users according to the set technical and business requirements.
